The Temple of Neptune is the biggest temple in Paestum in Italy. The Temple, built around mid-5th Century B.C., fully represents the architectural idea behind all temples of Ancient Greece. That is also visible when considering Olympia, in Greece, where, around the same time, the Temple of Zeus was erected. It's believed that during 700 B.C. the biggest temple of Poseidonia was the Temple of Poseidon/Neptune, where the city took its name from.
